O'Connor wants judges elected in odd years

Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor wants judges in Ohio elected in odd-numbered years so their races don't get lost in the shuffle of other statewide contests.

O'Connor made the case before to the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission on Thursday. She noted that judicial candidates are always placed at the end of the ballot, after statewide and legislative candidates.

Research shows voters typically don't make it all the way through the ballot and about 25 percent don't cast votes in those races, she said.
