Kasich could be the GOP’s moderate backstop

Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com says that Ohio Gov. John Kasich could be a good choice for the Republican Party if it decides to look for a more moderate candidate for the presidency.

Kasich has a conservative record, but Silver points out it is more moderate than other GOP hopefuls such as Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

"Kasich can be the most electable representative of the moderate wing of the Republican Party," Silver writes.
