Ohio to host GOP primary debate

The Republicans will hold the first of their nine presidential primary debates in Ohio in August, the party announced today. The party did not say which city in Ohio will hold the debate.

The Republicans plan to hold their national convention in Cleveland in July of 2016.

Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges was unanimously elected to the RNC Debate Committee. "This is an important role as we head into 2016 and the RNC exercises more control over the Presidential debates," said Ohio GOP spokesman Chris Schrimpf.

Borges said it is a huge honor to host the first debate. "We will make sure our Party shines and do it working hand in hand with the RNC. Looking forward to the big challenges ahead," he said.
