Strahorn gets league bicycle pin

Ohio House Minority Speaker Fred Strahorn, D-Dayton, is the first man to be awarded a bicycle lapel pin by the League of Women Voters of the Greater Dayton Area.

Susan Hesselgesser, the league's executive director, said the pin symbolizes the emancipation of women because when women began riding bikes it gave them freedom to go off on their own and because in order to ride they switched from bulky dresses to "bloomers" or pants.

She gave the pin to Strahorn after he gave a speech and answered questions during Tuesday's Dine and Dash dinner at the Dayton Racquet Club.

"I will wear it with pride," Strahorn said.
