Cabela’s to open in Centerville April 7

Cabela’s will open in Centerville on April 7, the company announced.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. that day, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the “ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee,” the company said in a release.

The 70,000-square-foot store is at 5500 Cornerstone North Blvd., in the Cornerstone at Centerville development off exit 7 of Interstate 675 near Wilmington Pike.

On opening, it will become Cabela’s third retail site in Ohio, joining the Columbus store opened in 2013 and the West Chester Twp. location opened in 2015, the store said.

“The store is being designed to offer customers an immersive outdoor experience with wood construction, stonework, dozens of wildlife displays and museum-quality taxidermy mounts, vintage outdoor photos and memorabilia, hand-painted murals, an aquarium and an indoor archery range,” the company said. “Additionally, the store will include an express cafe, Gun Library and Bargain Cave, along with thousands of quality outdoor products.”

Cabela’s has employed about 130 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff the store, most coming from Centerville and the area, the business said. Throughout the year, the staff will host educational seminars and demonstrations, offering tips and insights on outdoor products and seasonal activities.

Cabela’s Inc. calls itself “the world’s foremost outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear.” Founders Dick and Mary Cabela started the chain in 1961.
