Imperial Packaging acquired by Indiana firm

DAYTON – Imperial Packaging Corp. recently was purchased by Welch Packaging Group, based in Elkhart, Ind., for undisclosed terms, executives said.

Welch also acquired Imperial’s 160,000-square-foot building in the deal and will maintain operations in Dayton, the release states.

Imperial – established in 1968 by Paul Ashworth – designs, makes and distributes custom boxes.

“This expands our geographic footprint in Ohio and positions us in a new sector of the market with packaging supplies and stock boxes,” Scott Welch, chief executive of Welch Packaging, said.

Welch Packaging operates seven box plants in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.
