Region’s newest Dollar General store opens this Saturday

Dollar General will host a grand opening at its newest location in the Dayton-Springfield region, at 6655 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights, at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 1.

The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card, and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways, according to a Dollar General news release.

The dollar-store chain relocated its store at 6131 Brandt Pike to the new store five blocks away. Some of the new store’s features include seasonal products displayed in the center of the store and coolers that are located at the front of the store.

Traditional Dollar General stores employ six to 10 people.

Tennessee-based Dollar General — the largest dollar-store chain in the U.S. — has been involved in a bidding war of sorts to purchase rival Family Dollar, which also is being pursued by Dollar Tree.
