5 things to know about Kettering today

1. Grismer to open new Kettering store by spring

Grismer Tire & Auto Service has started construction and plans to open its new store in Kettering by May 2017. The auto service company purchased a commercial property at 4125 Wilmington Pike back in early 2015, and tore down the former Burger King building. Matt McCormick, a partner for Grismer, said construction started on the new 6,800-square-foot building in October.

2. Kettering company to expand, hire 60 new employees

Vivial, formerly named Berry Co., is expanding its headquarters at 3100 Research Blvd. to include a new outbound call center. The company will also hire 60 new full and part-time positions in the upcoming months.

3. High-IQ society Mena to offer admisson test in Kettering

Dayton Area Mensa, the local chapter of the international high IQ society, will hold a membership qualification testing session Thursday Jan. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the Kettering-Moraine Branch Library at 3496 Far Hills Ave. The test is open to anyone age 14 and older.

4. Sale of Kettering-based Kodak operation won’t happen this year

Eastman Kodak Co. announced the sale of its Kettering-based Prosper commercial inkjet business won't be completed until next year. Details of the sale process remain confidential, the release said.

5. Chick-fil-A sets date for two new Dayton-area locations

Both the Chick-fil-A at the Town & Country Shopping Center in Kettering and on West Main Street near Meijer in Troy are now scheduled to open Jan. 19, a Chick-fil-A spokeswoman told this news outlet Monday.
