Ohioans seeking concealed carry permits reached an all-time high last year, with 145,342 new licenses and renewals issued. The number of permits issued or renewed also spiked in area counties in 2013. Use the charts below to explore data on concealed carry permits in area counties.
Butler County
Butler County saw 4,584 CCW permits issued or renewed in 2013, which was a 119 percent increase from the previous year. The number of permits issued grew from 969 in 2005 to 2,320 in 2013.
Clark County
Clark County issued and renewed more than 1,000 concealed carry permits for the first time in 2013, with 1,386. It was a 69 percent increase from the previous year.
Greene County
Greene County more than doublesd its previous high number of issues and renewals in 2013, at 3,219. The previous two years combined to see 2,420 issues and renewals, including less than a thousand issued in 2011.
Montgomery County
Montgomery County experienced a 115 percent boost in concelaed carry issues and renewals in 2013, reaching 7,151. That included nearly 5,000 permits issued, at 4,944, and the issued and renewal total in 2013 was 809 percent more than 2007.
Warren County
Warren County's issues and renewals in 2013 were more than 2012 by 32 percent (1,573). But, that number wasn't an all-time high. The county issued or renewed 1,764 permits in 2009, which remains its highest level.
