Road maintenance in the Miami Valley
Reporting by Steve Bennish and Jeremy Kelley | Interactive by Kyle Nagel |
The Dayton Daily News surveyed governments throughout the Miami Valley to get an assessment of road conditions and road work this summer. Click on a county or municipality below to view its answers to our survey questions.
1. How many miles of roads under your jurisdiction's control are being resurfaced/repaved/reconstructed in 2013? Please specify lane miles or center-line miles (or some other measure). Please do not include smaller efforts such as crack sealing.
2. How does that total compare to the amount of paving that's been done in your jurisdiction each of the past 4-5 years?
3. If this year is different, why?
4. What is the total cost of these 2013 paving projects within your boundaries?
5. How much of that cost is being paid with local jurisdiction funds? With county funds? With state funds? With other funds (please specify)?
6. Would you say your jurisdiction is behind in paving, or caught up?
7. Is there a particular road that your residents complain about, and is repair of that road scheduled yet?
8. What are the two biggest paving projects happening in your jurisdiction in 2013, whether it's being led by your office, or the county, or the state?
