Friday, September 25th is National Comic Book Day.

Here’s a list of the 5 best places to read about your favorite action heroes in the Miami Valley:

1. Bookery Collectables

Located at 16 West Main Street in Fairborn, Bookery Collectables is known for its extremely wide selection of comics and memorabilia. The store keeps an active list on their website of every new comic that comes in.

Bookery is one of the largest comic shops in the area, and the owners also hold gaming events in the basement of the building. Click here for a complete schedule of these events.

2. Super-fly Comics and Games

Super-fly Comics, part of Yellow Springs' collection of shops on Dayton Street, has gained a reputation for having older comics in stock.

The store has also become known for their friendly and knowledgeable staff. According to Fairborn native and comic book collector Alex Ross, “Anyone who goes there will be able to talk their interests with someone.”

 3. Are U Game

A bit of a hole in the wall, Are U Game in Piqua is also known for its knowledgeable staff, more specifically its owner.

Comic book collector Cara Decknadel said she often goes to owner Paul Lee with questions about characters, editions, and more. Even though the building is small, tournaments of the game Magic the Gathering are also held at Are U Game.

 4. Second and Charles

Second and Charles, located on East Stroop Road in Dayton, is a little different than your classic comic book store.

Designed more as a mass consignment shop, the entirety of their comic book stock comes from trade in’s. If you are looking for a large selection of cheaper comics, Second and Charles (a nod to the “second chance” the merchandise is getting) is the place for you.

5. Bell, Book, and Comic

Located on Patterson Road in Dayton, Bell Book and Comic is a great stop for comic book collectors, as well as gamers.

Known for their weekly events, they will be hosting a series of prerelease celebrations this weekend in honor of the Battle for Zendikar. The store also keeps an active list of new comics coming in on their website.
