Singer Lizzo sends ‘big, big hugs’ and lunch to Dayton doctors, nurses and medical staff fighting coronavirus

An internationally known pop star has sent “big, big hugs” to Dayton-area doctors, nurses and other medical workers on the front lines of the fight against coronavirus.

Lizzo sent a video message to workers at Sugarcreek Health Center, 6438 Wilmington Pike, over the weekend.

In the video message, “The Truth Hurts” singer says:

“Hey y'all. It's Lizzo and I just wanted to shout out the Sugarcreek Health Center. You guys are so near and dear to my heart because, you know, one of my best friend's mom and one of my favorite people, Virginia Mack, works there.

So thank you guys so much for all of the hard work that you guys have been doing, working tirelessly around the clock, putting yourself on the front lines for our health and safety.

Thank you so, so, so much. Anything y'all need just holler at your girl. Sending you love and sending you big, big hugs. 

Thank you so much.”

Mack is an ultrasound technician at the health center.

Lizzo was not done there.

The singer also praised Grandview Medical Center workers in Dayton in a second video shared by Facebook user Cierra Jane Rinehart and  this afternoon by  Kettering Health Network.

“Lizzo just did a big shout to Grandview Hospital!! Thank you for our lunch tomorrow, so excited to see what she got us,” Rinehart wrote as part of  her post.

In that video, Lizzo says:

“Hello, Grandview Medical Center. It is Lizzo and I just wanted to say thank you. A thousand times thank you for all of the hard work that you guys have been doing during this pandemic. We are trying to stay inside and we are thinking of you, and praying for you guys every day, but I wanted to do a little bit more than that and send you guys a treat. I hope you guys enjoy your food. I hope it puts a smile on your face and I hope that you guys have a moment of appreciation or that you feel the appreciation from me and all the people around the world who are thinking of you 24/7. So, if you need anything else, let me know. But other than that, have a great day and just know that I love you.”

She sang the last line.

Lizzo has sent hospital workers around the nation lunch. She posted about it on Instagram.
