Dayton native guest stars on hit CBS show tonight.

A Dayton native will guest star tonight on one of CBS’ most popular shows.

Oakwood-raised Joey Luthman will play teenage skateboarder and gamer Jake Preston on a new “Criminal Minds” episode titled “Gatekeeper.”

The drama about criminal profilers airs at 9 p.m. on WHIO-TV 7.

Matthew Gray Gubler, Spencer Reid on the show, coached Luthman and directed the episode about a series of strangulations in Boston.

“It is one of our favorite shows,” Tess Luthman, Joey’s mother, said. “It is a great cast.”

Luthman, his sister Elise and his parents made the permanent move to Los Angeles two years ago to pursue acting careers.

Now 16, Joey Luthman recently graduated from high school and is taking film courses at Glendale Community College. The former Holy Angels student plans to eventually transfer to a four-year university.

Best known for repeat appearances on Showtime’s “Weeds,” Joey recently appeared on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and on the Disney Channel in “Ant Farm” as Teen Zoltan.

Other credits include "Ghost Whisperer," "Private Practice" and "iCarly."

He also is in commercials for the California Milk Council, Apple, Jif Peanut Butter and McDonald’s.

Luthman’s new series “CH:OS:EN” begins airing in December on the online streaming video service Crackle.
