WEST CHESTER TWP. — A new Japanese restaurant in the Voice Of America shopping center boasts of healthy and authentic fare with elegant presentation.

But, there’s a twist.

Geisha Modern Asian Cuisine & Lounge has what manager David Zhang calls a “fusion” of Asian, French and Italian inspired dishes.

Confused?

Zhang said it’s difficult to describe what makes the restaurant — owned by Andy Chi —so great. Customers have to come in to decide for themselves what it’s all about.

“Everything will be very elegant and delicious,” he said.

Its sushi chef has trained in France, and the menu features a variety of Japanese and French-styled sushi. Specialty hot dishes include Filet Mignon Carpaccio, Sakura Duck Roll and Blue Crab Quesadilla.

Italian style desserts include chocolate mousse and pineapple or mango ripieno, which is sorbet served in the shell of the fruit.

“We have a very nice dessert and a variety of choice,” he said.

Located at 7691 Voice Of America Centre Drive in the building that used to be home to Johnny Carino’s, the restaurant is divided into a dining section, a bar and a lounge boasting trendy decor. In the restaurant, there is long counter that displays varying sushi choices. The lounge, Zhang said, is ideal for business lunches and gatherings for those wishing to unwind after work.

The bar, which is expected to open in the next week, features authentic Japanese drinks, such as sake.

On the wall at the entrance is nutrition information, because Zhang said the goal is for customers to know what they are eating.

It’s a high profile, high traveled area right there at the corner of Cox and Tylersville roads,” said Joe Hinson, President and CEO of the West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance. “The fact that we have a new restaurant there in the start of 2011 is a good sign for all of us. We are very pleased to see that.”
