From Never Land to Enchancia, Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure will take audience members of all ages on a magical journey.
The live stage show, in the midst of a 103-city tour, will stop at the Nutter Center on Friday for three shows.
Mickey and Minnie will be joined by Disney Junior favorites Jake and his Never Land pirate pals and Sofia and her royal friends for a show packed with music and adventure. Doc McStuffins will also provide some of her tender loving care and will have the audience on its feet singing “I Feel Better.”
“Children everywhere have fallen in love with Sofia and Jake, and we are thrilled to bring these popular Disney Junior characters back to the stage,” producer Alana Feld said.
Performing in the Disney production has been a dream come true for Kennedi Henderson who portrays Princess Amber.
“This is my first big break,” Henderson said.
The 22-year-old North Carolina native moved across the country shortly after graduating from high school to pursue her dream of becoming a performer.
“My parents were freaking out a little bit — I was freaking out a little bit — being so far from home,” she said. “But I was determined.”
Henderson was cast as Princess Amber last year as part of the show’s first season. She became a quick study about Sofia’s stepsister.
“I watched every episode of the show, I still do,” she said. “It’s so funny because we’ll see a new episode and, the next day, be talking about what happened.”
At 22, Henderson isn’t exactly the Disney Junior demographic as the 24-hour channel is dedicated to children 2-7 years old. But playing a child princess definitely keeps her young at heart.
“It was a little weird at first, but once you put on the costume, you don’t really think about it,” she said. “And I’m all the way team Amber, she is so much fun to play.”
After Doc McStuffins opens the 90-minute show, audiences travel to Enchancia to help Sofia, Amber and James prepare for the annual friendship festival. Cinderella even makes a guest appearance.
Then it’s off to Never Land where Jake and his friends battle Captain Hook with a little help from Peter Pan and some pixie dust.
“There are so many opportunities to get up and dance or sing along,” Henderson said. “It’s a lot of fun for the kids but the parents have a great time too.”
