Gospel music and more part of local festival this month

The 3rd annual Sing Out Against Poverty Music Festival this month will still offer live gospel music, but new this year is an opportunity for concertgoers to get more information about a variety of local resources.

Presented by Faith Alliance of West Chester/Liberty Township, the event offers free food and activities in addition to live entertainment from Speak Life, Beauty from Ashes, Zamar Band, Rain praise band, West Chester Nazarene praise band and Ayanna Psalmoetry Lewis.

“The Faith Alliance’s mission is to eliminate poverty in our community and by our actions demonstrate true Christian love,” said Jen Brauer, the non-profit group’s coordinator. “Sing Out Against Poverty brings people together in support of that mission.”

Part of that mission will be the new Village of Hope during the festival.

“We’ve invited local resources to interact with concertgoers around health, shelter, services, education, kindness and restoration,” Brauer said.

Donations and sponsorships received for the event fund the alliance’s outreach ministries and programs, which help local residents with food, meals, educational supplies and summer reading programs.

The Faith Alliance has 19 church partner members and works with several local organizations.
