Organizers of the Miyelo Music Festival set for Saturday promise a whole different experience.

Donnie Reis, a producer, songwriter, performer and owner of Twelve3South, a local recording studio, said there are a lot of things to like about the day of music. The most important aspect, though, is that it benefits the Pink Ribbon Girls, he said.

“That is a large part of why we are doing this,” he said of the nonprofit that provides healthy meals, housekeeping, transportation to treatment and peer support to breast cancer patients during treatment.

Organizers described the day’s offering as “a mix of rock, country and Midwest folk, a unique blend of music we like to call Americana.”

All of the performers packing the July 18 playlist are people Reis said he has worked with in some way in the past.

They include Jonathan Jackson+Enation, Will Hoge, “American Idol” Season 8 winner Kris Allen and The Nate Jones Band, among others. Jackson has a major role on the ABC TV drama “Nashville.”

Local talent includes Cory Breth, Raya, Forage and Elekrobek.

The Donnie Reis Band not only will perform during Miyelo but also release its debut EP at the festival.

“This is not one of those things where people show up to at night to hear the headline act. These are all headline acts,” said Mike McDermott, a city resident and one of the event’s organizers. For example, he noted that “Idol” winner Allen is scheduled to play in the afternoon.

McDermott listed the following as among reasons to go to the festival:

• “The price of admission not only supports a great cause, but will allow you to enjoy 11 hours of great music from award-winning, national acts with your family.”

• Presale tickets for all day admission are $30. To see just Kris Allen in concert is often $20-$25 a ticket.

• “Buskers, food trucks, beer, wine and a great time.”

General admission tickets are $30 pre-sale online at www.miyelomusicfest.com and locally, cash only, at Sweet by Kristy downtown and Foodtown. On day of festival, tickets at the gate will be $40.
