With hits like “I Believe” and “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)” in the ’90s, Blessid Union of Souls, making its second appearance at the event, is sure to top the major happenings at UD this year.
The sounds of The Jaywalkers and Farewill Fisher, both local bands, also will fill the air at this outdoor concert, which is happening in the name of breast cancer awareness.
“The event is unique because 100 percent of the money from ticket sales goes to breast cancer education and awareness,” says Moellering. The proceeds from this event go directly to Zeta Tau Alpha, which directly donates all of the money to Susan G. Komen. Last Year, Zeta Tau Alpha raised $5.5 million nationwide.
ZTA sold T-shirts, which also will be on sale at the concert, for $10 and asked local businesses for donations. Cousin Vinny’s and Domino’s Pizza are two business that will be donating pizza. Other snacks, refreshments and desserts will be provided by ZTA members.
At 6 p.m., there will be a Yoplait “Save Lids to Save Lives” yogurt eating contest. There also will be raffle prizes, donated by ZTA.
A luminary ceremony featuring a member from the breast cancer support group, Noble Circle, will be held at 8 p.m. Luminaries will be available for purchase at the concert.
The concert begins at 5 p.m. and goes to 10. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased the night of the concert or from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day at Kennedy Union on UD’s campus. For more information, visit www.campus.udayton.edu/~zta/index.
