Steven Tyler 'concerned and worried' after Joe Perry's collapse on stage

Last week, guitarist Joe Perry of Aerosmith fame fell ill while playing a show with his new band, the Hollywood Vampires.

After collapsing on stage, Perry was transferred to a hospital, where he was reportedly treated for cardiac arrest.

"Thankfully, Joe seems to be better than we all first feared," longtime Aerosmith bandmate Tom Hamilton wrote this week. "Here's hoping he's back on stage soon, doing what he loves to do!"

Despite Hamilton's positive attitude, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler had more of a negative outlook when asked about Perry's health.

"I know they're putting out nothing but 'he's recovering, he's really good, he fainted, exhaustion,'" Tyler told Billboard. "But I know my brother. He's just about the only other guy that's as passionate about his art as I am. He's always asking me to do three, four (Aerosmith) shows in a row, and I can't. I'll blow my voice out. I know how to maintain my career, my health, and Joe's passionate."

Tyler believes that any of the 65-year-old Perry's health problems could have been caused by his rigorous tour schedule with his new band.

"I think he's out there and someone's overbooking him," Tyler said. "They're doing like eight or nine shows in a row, or five in a row. I think they're all a little burnt. I think they may need to look at that. Not young anymore, y'know?"

Though Aerosmith is supposed to hit the road in September, Tyler said those plans are meaningless if Joe isn't in good health.

"I don't give a (expletive) about the band," Tyler said. "I want Joe to live. ... I'm really concerned and worried right now that I'm not getting any news. I'm a little bummed out, and that scares me."

Tyler didn't explicitly say that he feels left in the dark, but he did say he doesn't think the silence from Perry's camp is a good thing.

"I don't know whether it's heat prostration or whether he's been working himself too hard, or getting off on wrong things passionately," he said. "I don't know what it is, but I know that nobody's talking to me. I can only tell you that Joe's my brother and I love him so much."
