Christmas dining? There are plenty of options

OK, so you won’t have relatives over Thursday, and you don’t want to cook on Christmas Day.

You’re in luck.

Consider this a partial list of restaurants that will be open Thursday, with planned hours. Some restaurants — such as The Caroline, 5 S. Market St., in Troy — also plan special Christmas Eve hours or will offer buffet-only arrangements. Special hours may be the rule on New Year’s Eve, as well.

Other restaurants will offer pickup hours Thursday. Carvers Steaks & Chops, 1535 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Centerville, is offering full prime rib to feed up to 20 guests and half-rib to feed six to 10 guests, for example

Carvers will let guests pick up prime ribs from 2-2:30 p.m. on Christmas Day, but customers must order first. The number is (937) 433-7099, and prime rib orders must be placed before 5 p.m. Monday Dec. 22.

Some sports bars, pubs and chain franchises may be open as well. As always, phone your favorite eatery to check before heading out.

In fact, it may be a good idea to call as soon as possible in any case, if reservations are required for large groups or if special hours are adopted.
