“I’ve done a bunch of independent films,” Greear said. “It’s just about promoting myself.”
Greear’s first project was a commercial for Dragon Restoration in 2008.
“It was my first camera experience,” said Greear. “I absolutely loved being in front of the camera, and that put the hunger in me.”
Since then, Greear appeared in the film “Gray Days” and an internet series titled “Fallen.”
Greear appeared in a handful of other projects in 2008 and 2009, but it was an audition for Indianapolis producer Bill Devers that snagged him his biggest role to date. Greear said he didn’t audition for “Camel Spiders” specifically, but Devers was so impressed that he asked Greear to take a role.
“I felt he had a very cinematic look. He had the ability to take direction,” Devers said. “He has a classical leading look and can portray a character in a masculine, dynamic way.”
After hearing the news, Greear said he popped open a bottle of champagne with his girlfriend and celebrated.
“I felt like all my hard work hard finally paid off for once,” said Greear. “I know it’s not like I’m an A-list actor, but I felt like I was.”
Greear will play Will, a college student who goes on a nature hike with his professor and four other students. After encountering deadly camel spiders, the group fights to survive while hiding in a shelter they discover in the woods.
“With this one being on national TV and DVD, it’s one of the biggest films I’ve done,” Greear said. “Hopefully it’s the start of something big.”
Brian Krause and C. Thomas Howell are among the “Camel Spiders” cast. Brian Krause played the male lead in the popular television series “Charmed” and C. Thomas Howell has appeared in episodes of “Southland” and “Criminal Minds,” but his first role was in “E.T.”
