The 37-year-old California transplant’s latest television venture is “Rob Dyrdek’s Wild Grinders,” an animated series debuting on the Nicktoons network at 7 p.m. today, April 27. The cartoon was inspired by his real-life exploits and features Lil Rob, voiced by Dyrdek, his talking bull dog, Meaty, and his skateboarding friends in fictional Sprawl City.
“ ‘Wild Grinders’ becoming an animated series and airing on Nicktoons is another one of my beloved dreams come true,” Dyrdek said. “I came up with the name when I was 11 years old, when I needed a name for my first skate crew. Who knew it would turn into such a megabrand.
“This series has everything — comedy, action and skateboarding,” he said. “It is something I am very proud of and definitely will be a series kids will love for years.”
“Wild Grinders,” a half-hour series created and executive produced by Dyrdek, was picked up for an initial run of 26 episodes. New episodes will run at 7 p.m. Fridays.
