The musical is based off of the ideal 20th century American family.
“The show is funny, romantic, with a weird cast of characters and large supporting cast. Plus, the songs are catchy and fun,” said Paula Powell, Director of Choirs at Stivers School for the Arts. She is directing the production
The first show debuts this weekend on Friday, March 17 and will run at different times all weekend until Sunday.

The show has been in the making since auditions were held in November. Casting began after school rehearsals in December, and the students haven’t stopped since.
“Our cast is very dedicated, and we have been off script for several weeks,” said Powell. “It is always fun to see the chemistry grow as we add layers of music and dancing, and cast members explore new dimensions in their characters.”
Thirty students have been selected for roles within the play, while an additional 40 students from different programs are involved in the production, handling anything from lighting, sound, stage managing, and the orchestra.
Lead roles are comprised of mostly juniors and seniors on their way to graduation, but there is a seventh grader in the role of Pugsley Addams, and a freshman starring as Mal Beinecke.

“What is interesting about our cast, crew and orchestra is that they come from all eight of Stivers’ different arts programs, including theatre, theater tech, choir, orchestra, band, creative writing, fine arts, piano and dance,” Powell said.
“I'm really excited for audiences to see the Addams Family mansion, complete with instruments of torture,” she said. “Nothing too scary, I promise!”
