Two legacy musical acts will take the stage at the Rose Music Center at the Heights this summer.
The Huber Heights venue has announced that the Beach Boys will return to the Huber Heights stage on Aug. 18, with the Four Tops as their special guest.
We don't need to summarize the Beach Boys' influence on American rock n'roll for you: from the surf pop rock jams  like "Surfin' USA" and "Catch a Wave" of their early years, to the groundbreaking record Pet Sounds, to their most recent release, 2013's Sounds of Summer, the Beach Boys have made their mark on American music consistently for over 55 years. New and old fans were given a look into the life of founding member and songwriter Brian Wilson with the 2014 acclaimed film "Love and Mercy," starring John Cusack and Paul Dano.
The Beach Boys' current lineup includes founding member Mike Love (lead vocals) and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards), who joined the Beach Boys in 1965, replacing Glenn Campbell, who filled in for Wilson when he retired from touring. Completing the group are Jeffrey Foskett (guitar/vocals), Brian Eichenburger (bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (percussion /vocals) and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals).
A rundown of Motown music's history would be woefully incomplete without the Four Tops, who have continuously recorded and/or toured for over 60 years. Their lasting hits include "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" and "Reach Out I'll Be There", but those only scratch the surface of the group's prolific discography. The Four Tops' current lineup includes founding member Abdul "Duke' Fakir, legacy member Lawrence Payton, Jr. (son of founding member Lawrence Payton), Ronnie McNeir and Harold Bonhart.
Tickets for the Aug. 18 show are available for presale March 17 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. via Ticketmaster using the code "MUSIC" (not case-sensitive). General sale tickets go on sale March 18 at 11 a.m.
Closer to Cincinnati? Catch the acts a day early when they perform Aug. 17 at PNC Pavilion. Presale tickets also available March 17, with general sale tickets available March 18 via Ticketmaster.
