Usually, when you visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, the aircraft you see are on the ground. But this weekend, smaller versions of familiar favorites will take to the skies.

The Giant Scale Radio-Controlled (RC) Model Aircraft Air Show is scheduled for Sept. 4-6 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, during Labor Day weekend, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

More than 100 pilots will be on hand to navigate scale models of well-known aircrafts, which will include helicopters, warbirds and RC jets, through the air.

The event is open to the public, and admission and parking are free. Food and merchandise will be available for purchase.

The weekend of events will also include a half-time show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, where the RC pilots show off their skills and abilities.

Those interested in attending the show can enter either through the Spinning Road gate, located off Airway Road, or the main museum gate off Springfield Street, and follow the signs to the event area behind the museum. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
