Bedore’s onstage topics range from parenthood and marriage to observational comedy, but he also makes sure to include some discussion of this conspiracy in his act, often accompanied by an extensive PowerPoint presentation supporting his theory. He also offers photographic evidence at his Web site www.vaguebuttrue.com.
“It’s important to let people know about this conspiracy,” Bedore said. “I believe animals hate capitalism. Again, it’s a very sound evolutionary concept. If Freud is right and it’s all about sex, who gets to do all the mating in the animal world? The alpha male — he’s the powerful one, the aggressive one.
“You just spread your genes around in the animal world,” he continued. “In the capitalist world, money is power and thus even I.T. guys are mating and having kids. That’s very threatening to the alpha male world to see this other model where the weaklings can actually have power.”
Bedore performs at Wiley’s Comedy Niteclub Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 22 through 24.
“I do some theater shows and it’s a fun way to work, but there’s no replacing clubs,” Bedore said. “I don’t know if you’d call it the driving range of comedy or the tournament itself, but clubs are certainly where the important work gets done.
“I always have fun at Wiley’s,” he added. “I’m doing the PowerPoint there this time. We’ll show the audience some images that might change their mind about these animals. They’ll certainly get a few laughs out of it.”
