FAQs for Dayton.com

What happened to ActiveDayton.com?

ActiveDayton served one mission: helping residents and visitors discover what to do in Dayton.  Research told us that our audience wanted something more, a site that keeps them informed and up-to-date on Dayton’s culture, a site that reflects the diversity and vitality of this region we love.  To meet that challenge we started from scratch and built a site that Dayton will be proud to have as its address on the World Wide Web.  ActiveDayton.com was just a web site; but Dayton.com is a personal connection, an opportunity to participate, contribute, and experience the contemporary vibe of YOUR community…Dayton, Ohio. You will want to check Dayton.com every day so you don’t miss activities, trends, reviews, opinions, images, talking points and great advice on where to go and what to do from the people who know best…you, your friends and your neighbors.  Dayton.com is, quite simply, “What to know. What to do. What to love…in Dayton.”

I relied on the Active Dayton event calendar. Will Dayton.com have the same info?

One of our core missions with Dayton.com is getting our audience engaged in this community.  Events and things to do are at the core of that mission and we are building the best calendar in the region, one that will keep you entertained and help you find unique ways to spend your time in Dayton.  We’ve added new categories like “Free & Cheap Events,” “Where to Shop,” “Dayton Maps,” “Play Outside,” as well as a variety of blogs and much more!

Why did you make this change?

We responded to YOU. We developed a bold, sassy and very visual site that answers every question you have about Dayton…and a few you didn’t even think to ask! We did it all in a crisp, inviting and easily navigable format that is available on any platform, from smart phones to desktops and everything in between!

What kind of information can I find on the new site?

You name it! How about innovative ways to “be green” in Dayton; the best places to work in our town; the best night life, restaurants, pubs, films, live performances, tours and tattoos  What about an inside look at our pop culture or a close-up on the arts scene? Looking for free and cheap events? You’ll find ‘em here. Maybe you want to follow some great blogs by local folks, or submit a picture that defines “your Dayton experience.” Looking for great shopping? Yep, you’ll find it here. Do you want to know the best places to live or discover a little slice of local history? You’ll find it on Dayton.com.  Or perhaps you are looking for organizations where you can volunteer your time and energy or maybe you want to add a few experiences to add to your bucket list. Oh, yeah, it’s all here! From “Dayton Underground” to “Sophistication Dayton,” we’ve got it all!

For starters, we are returning to a name that readers told us they missed. Besides the name, and a zippy new cover, the product is the same. It’s still the best, most complete print coverage of entertainment, arts and weekend events in the Dayton area and beyond. Every Friday, our reporters and staff will continue to fill readers in on the best that’s out there—concerts, restaurants, shows, events and attractions.

And, of course, you now have the amazing Dayton.com web site to augment and expand on all the great happenings and events you’ll read about in Dayton.com.
