Two of Dayton’s favorite local celebrities and award-winning performers John Legend and Dave Chappelle will be back in the spotlight this weekend.
Both are nominees for the Grammy Awards.
The 62nd Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 26. The show will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m.
Legend, who grew up in Springfield, is nominated in two categories, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for “A Legendary Christmas” and Best Rap/ Sung Performance for his collaboration on “Higher” with DJ Khaled and Nipsey Hussle.
In 2018 Legend became the first African-American man to win the coveted EGOT, the combination of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.
Yellow Springs’ own Dave Chappelle has been nominated for Best Comedy Album for “Sticks & Stones.”
In 2018, Chappelle won his first Grammy in the Best Comedy Album category for ‘The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas.”
Last year he was nominated in the same category for his album “Equanimity & the Bird Revelation.”
