The Englewood, N.J., boy was born with Omphalocele. As a result, his intestine and abdominal organs formed outside of his belly, according to a fundraising page.
Complicating matters even further, Kayden’s legs and feet were trapped under his mother’s pelvis and his bones did not form correctly.
"The doctors stated he would not survive and suggested I terminate my pregnancy," his mother Nikki Kinko Sessoms wrote on YouTube.com. "Even the ultrasound techs agreed, saying that he would either be stillborn or wouldn't make it through the repair surgery."
The toddler did survive and has had corrective surgeries. His right foot and left leg were amputated in January.
On July 4, he took his first steps using a small walker.
The recorded moment has proven inspirational to say the least.
The elated little boy is seen proclaiming “I got it. I got it” as he walks down what appears to be a hallway.
The video of the walk has gone viral since his mother posted it to Facebook and YouTube.com.
A page has been set up on Gofundme.com to help with medical expenses.
It has received more than $8,000 by publication of this post.
