Decreased rail travel time, according to the new study, will probably increase ridership, which, in turn, will decrease the projected $17 million annual operating subsidy.
It’s a win-win-plus situation, with the plus possibly being lower vehicle insurance, new jobs in a state crying for jobs and increased revenue at rail passenger terminal locations.
Who wouldn’t want this? One person, for sure, is John Kasich. He’s already told voters who support a rail system, including those in his own party, that, if elected, he will do away with the rail system.
Progressive Ohioans, who want the proposed rail system, must let their congressmen and senators know their wishes so their voices can be heard. Call or send them a letter now.
