Hopefully there’s a renewed way of how we act and react in the midst of this new season. Spring is exemplified as a season of growth, rebirth and transformation.
What happens in the spring during this process of renewal? Have you heard of spring cleaning? What we do in our homes parallels with us changing our way of thinking, which is reflected in our attitudes. Flowers begin budding and blooming, trees begin budding with greenery, birds return with their chirping....and guess what? We have rain and more rain.
We need rain, yet will we complain because of the rain? If so, the cycle of complaining from the winter follows us into the spring. If we cannot see the beauty in the rain or any other natural causes for a season that may not be pleasant, this cycle of complaining will hinder our personal renewal process, clogging up our sight to see and treasure this much-anticipated season we call spring.
To enjoy spring for what it brings, we must renew our minds every day. What we think is reflected in and through our speech and then our actions.
Spring is an opportunity to change, becoming transformed from the inside out. Spring cleaning also symbolizes what we are to do with our thinking — clean out all that old, cold, dark way of thinking and speaking that becomes a reflection of our actions.
I am so excited about this season. Our days are longer, there’s more daylight than darkness, and it represents a refreshing. I used to complain when I was younger in faith about the bugs, the gnats and any negative aspect spring brought. But as I mature from the inside out, it’s a renewed opportunity to get my mindset back on the right track.
I reach for renewal every day because I do not want to miss out on the beauty and magnificent wonders spring brings.
