Shoe tray stays a step ahead of indoor puddling

Keep winter’s moisture outside of the house.

If your house is anything like mine, then the winter weather brings with it remnants of salt and puddles of water from our shoes. To help protect my flooring, I have created a nice looking and easy-to-make shoe tray to put by our door.

This tray will help keep your floors safe while catching any water, salt or residue from the weather conditions outside.

Plus to make it only costs $8.19.

Supplies needed

  • Items I purchased:
  • One bag of small pebbles — $1 at the Dollar Tree
  • Four bags of river rocks — $1 each at the Dollar Tree
  • Half sheet cake aluminum disposable pan — $3.19 at Kroger (you can also use a cookie sheet if you have one, but make sure it has a lip around it).
  • Items I already had:
  • Gorilla glue

Directions

  1. Place the rocks in the bottom of you tray. You want to arrange them in a way so that they are about the same level.
  2. Take the pebbles and fill in any large gaps between the rocks.
  3. Once you are happy with your layout, begin gluing the rocks to the inside of your sheet pan.
  4. Glue each rock down individually and let dry completely.
  5. Once dry, place your tray by the door and enjoy.
