Most of us have heard of Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley (GESMV), the nonprofit organization that empowers people with disabilities and other needs to achieve independence and enhance their lives.
The goal of the agency, which serves people in 23 Ohio counties at 50 locations, is to make it possible for all people to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
“Thanks to the community’s generous donations, we are able to continue our mission of providing a hand-up, not a handout,” said Kim Bramlage, marketing coordinator at GESMV. “In 2013, we served 15,392 people and helped more than 1,000 people get a job.”
Donating items to Goodwill Stores helps GESMV provide more than 40 programs and services including behavioral health services, employment services, children/youth and senior services, and development disabilities services.
“With the arrival of spring, now is the ideal time to clear the clutter out of your home, garage or wardrobe,” said Bramlage. “When you donate your gently-used items to Goodwill, your donated items help support programs for people in your community. That’s cleaning with a purpose.”
