2 men killed, 1 flown to hospital after convertible crashes in Miami County

Two men died and a third man was flown to the hospital following a rollover crash involving a convertible in Miami County Monday evening.

James Christopher Jackson, 65, of Tipp City and Matthew J. Stoermer, 66, of Dayton, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. A medical helicopter transported a 62-year-old Dayton man to Miami Valley Hospital. He is in stable condition.

The crash was reported in the 8700 block of Sullivan Road in Bethel Twp. around 7:20 p.m.

Jackson was driving a 1969 Pontiac convertible south on Sullivan Road when it went off the right side of the street. The car went back on the road before going off the left side and overturing, landing on its top, according to a crash report filed by the sheriff’s office.

A preliminary investigation determined the men were not wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
