Hundreds of Dayton families receive food, essential items as part of No Hunger Holidays

Hundreds of Dayton families received food, personal care and hygiene items and books and toys for kids as part of No Hunger Holidays.

Fazoli’s partnered with Feed the Children and the Salvation Army - Dayton Kroc Center to help 400 families during a drive-thru event at the Kroc Center Tuesday.

“This year has brought unprecedented challenges for families. We are honored to do our part to help make a difference,” said Fazoli’s CEO Carl Howard. “Dayton is my hometown and I’m proud to be able to give back to this community. This is our seventh year for this event and we’re excited to bring hope and holiday cheer to those in need.”

Families received a 25-pound box of food, 15-pound box of hygiene and personal care items, a box of Avon products and Disney books and toys.

“With the way things have been the last 18 months we are so excited to be able to give back to the community, especially here in Dayton,” said Doug Bostick of Fazoli’s.

More than 30% of Dayton residents live below the poverty line, according to Feed the Children. Between the COVID-19 pandemic and approaching holidays, many people may find themselves exhausted and without essential resources. Feed the Children’s No Hunger Holidays campaign aims to help children, parents and caregivers fill the gap during difficult times.

“We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, especially during a time full of warmth, love and sharing,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children president and CEO. “But the reality is, millions of children face this hardship every day. Thanks to our generous partners at Fazoli’s, we are able to help these families rest a little easier knowing they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.”

Since 2012, Fazoli’s and Feed the Children have partnered to help more than 10,000 families and provided more than 80,000 pounds of food and other essentials, according to Feed the Children.
