PHOTOS: A sneak peek at the new Carillon Park Railroad

Here’s a sneak peek at Dayton History’s new Carillon Park Railroad project, manufactured in England by Severn Lamb. The train is a full-size replica of the “Cincinnati,” the first locomotive to pull a passenger train into Dayton in 1851 on the Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton Railroad. The railroad fulfills the dream of Carillon Park founder Col. Edward A. Deeds to have a fully functional railroad in the park based on his miniature of the “Cincinnati” which is still in Dayton History’s collection. The railroad, which can accommodate 120 passengers and travels along a one-mile track around the perimeter of the park, will be open to the public following a dedication event for members on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
