Day had just completed 16 of 22 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns in a win against Greenville on Friday. His coach, Marcus Colvin, cleared a path in the post-game huddle for what he called a special guest.

Air Force Capt. Chris Minor then appeared and embraced his son as the team celebrated.

“Ryan’s face is my morning boost,” one of the TODAY show hosts said over the video on the segment.

“It is so good to have him home and to win and have him watch a great game,” Ryan Minor said after the game. “I’m so excited. We talk a lot, but it’s not the same as in person. Him being here on probably my best game, I’m just excited to know that he was here.”
