Barn fire brings out multiple fire departments

“At least three good sides of a barn are still standing” says Cridersville Fire Chief Rick Miller, after a wood burning stove may have been the probable cause of a fire late Saturday afternoon.

Around 5:00 p.m., Cridersville Fire with mutual aid of tankers and manpower from Buckland, Uniopolis, and St. John’s Fire Departments were dispatched to a barn fire at 16903 Buckland-Holden Road.

Crews attacked the fire on the lower level and when they pulled off the rear corner of the barn, they discovered fire in the large overhang, Miller said. The fire was eventually extinguished with fire fighters saving the remainder of the structure.

No one was inside the barn, and no fire fighters were hurt with this incident.
