Bronze statue unveiled, STEM Inspiration Center dedicated in Wapakoneta

Gov. DeWine was among the dignitaries Sunday morning who gathered at the front entrance to the Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta for the unveiling of a bronze, life-sized statue of Neil Armstrong.

It was made possible by the Armstrong family. They also cut the ribbon to the newly constructed Armstrong STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) Inspiration Center located inside the museum.

A parade at 3 p.m., is followed by a summer community picnic on the grounds of the museum, with the sounds of The Beach Boys tribute band playing at the picnic.

Neil Armstrong stepped on the surface of the moon July 20, 1969, at 10:59 p.m.

The celebration of the Moon Walk continues through July 21 in Neil Armstrong’s hometown of Wapakoneta, Ohio, in Auglaize County.
