UPDATE @ 10:40 a.m. (Nov. 2):

Witnesses said a driver killed in a crash Thursday evening on Ohio 41 passed several vehicles in the westbound right paved berm, lost control and crossed the center line when the blue Ford car was struck broadside by a van headed in the opposite direction.

The impact of the crash around 6:25 p.m. sheared the car in half and its driver, 46-year-old Michael Browning of Troy, was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Piqua Post.

Andres Diaz, 41, of Riverside was headed east on Ohio 41 in a white 2010 Ford van carrying three occupants. His passengers, Carlos Abrosio, Bernardo Hernandez and Ernesto Lopez were taken to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

The Troy police and fire departments, Miami County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene of the crash, which remains under information.

UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.:  One person is dead and four others have been taken to hospitals from the two-vehicle accident on state Route 41 in Concord Twp., Miami County.

Officials confirm the person killed is a man. He was ejected and ended up in a ditch. He died at the scene, a quarter mile from Washington Road outside Troy. He has been taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

He was believed to have been driving the car that was split in two.

The four people injured were first taken to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. At least some of them have been transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where their conditions are not known.

One victim was trapped for 30 minutes in in one of the vehicles, a multi-passenger van.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Piqua Post is investigating.
