Haines Children’s Center reopens, air conditioning restored

UPDATE @ 6:45 p.m.:

The Haines Children’s Center has reopened and all air conditioning has been restored.

The evening staff has reported to work as usual.

The day staff will report to their regular shifts and all transportation and visitation will resume on Tuesday.

FIRST REPORT:

Air conditioning failure led to the closure of Haines Children’s Center, 3304 N. Main St., today around 10:30 a.m.

Concerns of abuse and neglect can still be reported by calling 224-KIDS and emergency situations will be addressed promptly, according to a press release.

The situation will be reassessed at 3 p.m. to determine if the after-hours crew will be able to work their shifts, beginning at 5 p.m.

Caseworkers who have obligations in court are expected to meet those obligations.
