A former New Madison village employee is to be in court Feb. 6 for a pretrial hearing on a charge accusing her of stealing more than $21,500 during the five years she held various titles from 2010 to 2015.

Wanda Lacey, 41, was freed Monday on a recognizance bond on the felony theft in office charge. She was arraigned Monday in county Common Pleas court on an indictment returned by a Darke County grand jury.

If convicted as charged, Lacey could be sentenced up to 18 months in prison and fined $5,000. Those conditions would be in addition to any restitution ordered by a judge.
