“The steel topping is a major part in the construction,” said Jayne Klose, a spokeswoman for the Dayton Metro Library system. “Once that’s done, the walls go up, everything goes up so fast and you can actually see the library take shape.”
The 13,000-square-foot building at East Main Street and MacGregor Drive costs $5.1 million. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2020.
“The City of Trotwood is honored in this space of history to provide its citizens a state of the art library and gathering place,” Mayor Mary McDonald said. “It serves our community with vital access to new books and new technology.”
Trotwood’s new library is one of several in the Dayton Metro Library system funded by a bond issue passed in 2012.
