The crash was reported just before 3 p.m. on Interstate 75 northbound between Troy and Piqua, per initial reports.
The male driver was riding a three-wheeled motorcycle in the right lane through a construction zone. The motorcycle crossed into the left lane and struck the right rear side of a Honda van driving north in the left lane, according to the Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike in the crash, and the motorcycle struck him and crashed into the cable barrier in the median, according to Patrol reports.
The man was flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital, and the highway was closed for two hours after the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
