SCAM ALERT: Caller threatens arrest for missing jury duty unless fee is paid

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scammer identifying themselves as a captain with the sheriff’s office who threatens arrest unless a fee is paid.

The caller claims the resident must pay several hundred dollars for missing jury duty or the sheriff’s office will have a warrant out for their arrest.

The sheriff’s office said the call is a scam and they never call residents and threaten arrest for unpaid fines, warrants or missed court dates.

If you receive a call similar to this, the sheriff’s office asks that you report it to your local law enforcement agency.
