Some RTA routes detoured due to storm damage

Several Greater Dayton RTA bus routes are being detoured, and the agency is providing emergency evacuation assistance as needed due to tornadic activity and storms that impacted much of the Miami Valley late Monday night.

The following RTA routes have been detoured due to storm damage Tuesday: Route 2, 11, 16, 17, 19, 22, 24, and 34.

The RTA is updating customers about reroutes on its Facebook page.

Customers can track their bus live using the Transit app, available to download for free in the App Store or Google Play, or by texting RTA and their stop ID to 41411. Customers are encouraged to sign up for alerts to receive text and/or email updates on detours and service disruptions at www.iriderta.org/ridetime.

The RTA is issuing detour alerts on an as-needed basis, and there is no timeline for when any reroutes will end as emergency crews work to clean up the damage.

The RTA is a member of the Montgomery County Emergency Management Association and is assisting first responders with evacuations as needed. Several buses were provided to help evacuate residents in apartments at Foxton Court in Dayton to The Ridge Church in Brookville early Tuesday morning, and the agency has provided a bus to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s temporary command center on North Dixie Drive. The RTA will continue providing emergency assistance as requested by area law enforcement agencies.
