Preble County deputies arrest 2, seize prescription meds and suspected meth

Two Preble County residents remain in jail after sheriff’s deputies seized suspected methamphetamine, prescription medication, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Richard Meeks, 52, and Rebekah Meeks, 37, were arrested Sunday in the 300 block of Sample Drive, near West Alexandria, where deputies believe illegal narcotics were being sold, the Preble County Sheriff’s Office said in a prepared statement.

Two other people detained at the residence were released.

The Meekses have been charged in Eaton Municipal Court.

Richard Meeks is jailed on felony charges of drug possession and misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond has been set at $20,085 on the drug possession charge. Cash-only bonds have been set for the other charges.

Rebekah Meeks is jailed on the same felony and misdemeanor charges, plus a felony charge of tampering with evidence. Bond for her on the drug possession charge has been set at $585, while the remaining charges carry a cash-only bond.

The weapons possession charge against each has been dismissed, according to online jail records.
