Two flown by medical helicopter after head-on crash on U.S. 33 in Auglaize County

A head-on collision at U.S. 33 near mile marker 29 required the response of two medical helicopters around 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Initial investigations indicate that Troy Dempster, 50, of Huntsville, was traveling north in a 2004 Jeep Cherokee when he went left of center striking Charlotte Plapp, 54, of Waynesfield, who was traveling south in a 2018 Ford F-150.

Both received severe injuries. Dempster was flown to Grant Medical Center and Plapp was flown to St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Alcohol or drugs is not a suspected factor, according to the press release.

The crash is still under investigation as the state troopers works to learn more.
