A post on the city of Dayton’s Facebook page this morning drew some confused and critical reactions on social media.

The city posted a link to a “Prince of Peace” sermon from a group called the West Mason Church of Christ, which is based in Mason.

The post reads, “When we are fellow heirs with the Prince of Peace, we can bear ‘momentary, light afflictions’ when they are compared to the eternal weight of glory that is our spiritual inheritance!”

The post was met with some bewildered and displeased responses, including one calling for the separation of church and state.

A city spokeswoman says staff removed the post as soon as it was discovered. She said the employee who manages the city’s social media account also manages his church’s account in his private life. She said he accidentally scheduled the post last night to run on the city’s page instead of the church’s.
