Clark County Man Arrested On Child Endangering Charge

A Clark County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after deputies received reports of a call of a child locked in a car.

They said it was reported to them that a small child was inside the car crying and that the windows were rolled up and the engine was off.

Investigators said they were able to use a tool to unlock the vehicle.

They said the child was hot and exhausted from being inside the car.

Deputies said when the father, Ryan Copeland of Springfield, exited the store he became upset and told them he had forgotten he'd left his 18- month-old inside the car.

He was arrested on one count of endangering children and taken to the Clark County Jail.

The child was taken to a hospital to be checked out, then turned over to his mother.
